Trip 1: On Saturday, September 19th, we had donuts on the morning Surfliner, left SLO at 6:55am, got to Santa Barbara, had lunch, and returned to SLO on the Pacific Trail Streamliner, arriving at 1pm. Cameras were a great idea. Wide viewing windows provided great photo opps. Cost was $85 per person.
Trip 2: For the premium in luxury, boarded the beautifully restored Overland Trail Lounge Car, left SLO at 1:55pm. Brought some champagne to feel what it was like when these cars were the ultimate in travel. Bought dinner in Santa Barbara or at the Surfliner cafe and ate as we enjoyed the unsurpassed coastal sunset. Returned to SLO at 8:30pm. Cost was $100 per person.
