Taken March 20, 2022 Location: Gaviota, CA. "Put the Coast in Starlight": Amtrak 14(20) skirts along bluffs above the Pacific Ocean. Seen in the background are the Gaviota pier, the Gaviota trestle, and the semi-green rolling hills of the Coast Range. Running along the ocean and the coast areas in general gives the train its name.

April 14, 2019 - Gaviota State Beach. A northbound Union Pacific Passenger deadhead movement glides across the Gaviota trestle on a warm spring day. This movement originated in Iowa and made the trek to Oakland via Los Angeles with rail and business executives aboard. All passengers were detrained in Los Angeles while a fresh crew took over and made the sunny trek up the coast with the empty equipment. With recent rains and mustard covered hills above, the extravagant show of color has taken just about every beachgoer's attention, as waves of smiles and hands reflect off the beach back toward the crew.

March 1, 2021 - Stenner Creek (Cal Poly SLO), San Luis Obispo, CA. In a sight that is not expected to be repeated ever again, two Seattle based Cascades Talgo 6 series commuter trainsets set off on their last trip ever down the Pacific Coast toward Anaheim, CA, where they will soon meet the scraper's torch. All Talgo 6 series trainsets were sidelined after a deadly rail collision in which a Amtrak Cascades train flew off a bridge before landing onto the I-5 Freeway in Washington. As of today, both sets no longer exist. Here is one final shot of the set coming off Cuesta grade, gliding over the Stenner Creek trestle as the sun begins to set over San Luis Obispo.
